Big mess; bigger office space.

These are the before and afters of the basement storage room from a flight school at Sacramento Executive Airport.  The school recently changed ownership and the new owners were left with a big mess...but with big potential.

Unneeded items tossed away to make room for the necessary ones...all nicely stowed behind a hanging curtain making a calm, peaceful and productive office space. We painted the walls and stained the concrete and rolled with the industrial feel for the space.
This space was overwhelming and useless to the new owners.   They called NorCal Neat Freaks for a complete transformation.  They received a modern, functional and peaceful space to work in...and soon to relax in.  We will soon be adding a sofa, fridge and a TV so they can use it as a little get away during their many long days.

An airplane hangar turned man-cave...a.k.a. a Man-Gar!.    We just finished up one of our more fun projects ever!. We turned a messy airplane hangar into a functional and super chill Man-Gar (that's a man cave hangar...we just made made that word up).  Here are the pics.

AFTER The right (storage) side of the hangar. We placed everything in bins and added tarps to conceal the equipment with zippers between each one.

Have ski's and need to store them? Why not turn them into a desk or a coffee table! We used the snow ski's from his Cessna 185 as table tops. Now they're not just taking up space but providing a cool desk and coffee table for the Man-Gar.

We found an old military Irvin parachute in Palo Alto and flew over to pick it up (from Sacramento). The cost of the parachute ($80) was paid for from the sale of some unwanted items laying around in the hangar. The cost of the fuel for the flight? ..about $150 round trip!
Nothing like pulling the seats right out of a 1960's 747! They even recline in the seat and the foot rest!
Of course the flags represent his military service.
Is it an airplane ski or a desktop? We say it's both!
View from under the wing.
And what's a man cave of any kind without a dart board target, a mini-fridge and a humidor!
His camping gear is all tucked away in bins behind these 3 tarps. We even added zippers between the tarps to mack it!
Now there is room in this hangar for something really big and awesome...like an airplane!
He had a lot of fishing pole and wanted to sell his kid's toy shelves. We used bungee chords to separate the poles and made use of the plastic bins elsewhere in the hangar.
We used his kid's toy bins to create an organized place for his numerous fishing poles. It also keeps them from getting tangled!
A few bungee cords work perfectly to separate the poles.
Organized space for gear and tables he can use to prep for trips.
A place for everything; everything in it's place.
Used wire and S-hooks to hang the flags from the top of the roof.
Hung the parachute from a pole that we hung from a ceiling beam. He can pull back the parachute when he's ready to pull out the plane! Until then it's a great sun blocker and privacy screen.
The fridge and humidor are stocked!
The cool factor of this Man-Gar gets a lot of attention at the airport. The space is now fun, relaxing and a great place to hang out with friends.
We created a desk that's fun, funky and functional!
Old tire turned "pencil/fuel gauge/fuel tester" holder.
Sofa and ski/coffee table. We made the base of the table out of 2 military ammo boxes he had in the hangar. We topped those with 2 old tail wheel tires for height and padding under the ski.
View from the recliner. We put the TV on a flat dolly for ease of movement if necessary.
View from the recliner...and proof that it really is a hangar in an airport.

Items on shelves don't need to be seen, just need to be accessible.

This homeowner was interested in organizing her garage items onto the existing shelves.  That was the easy part!  She was happy to toss, sell or donate things she didn't need or want but she still didn't like seeing the remaining items on the shelves.
Solution?  Hang drapes that cover the shelves yet give her easy access to all of the items on them!   Drapes or curtains are lightweight and easily moveable and they soften the look of shelving giving it a more polished and calmer look and feel.

Shaping up the Shipping Department.

What happens when the VP of a Northern CA  tech company realizes that his disorganized shipping department might be costing him customers?  He fixes the problem immediately!   Now anyone in the company can see the status of an order when a customer calls in for an update.

This was a quick one-day organization project that gave this company the basic order they needed to function effectively without spending days revamping the entire shipping/receiving bay.   Next up...revamping the entire shipping/receiving bay.
